# Teacher Mindfulness & Wellbeing

How educators can use mindfulness for their own regulation and model calm, attentive presence without adding another burden.

A school mindfulness program is stronger when adults understand the practices experientially.

That does not mean teachers need to become meditation experts.

## Useful teacher practices

* one minute of breathing before students arrive
* a pause before responding to challenging behaviour
* noticing body tension during transitions
* taking a deliberate breath before meetings
* using short movement or grounding breaks
* ending the day with a brief reflection rather than carrying every event home

## Modelling matters

Children notice how adults respond to pressure.

A teacher who pauses, names what is needed, and responds steadily may communicate more about mindfulness than a perfect scripted lesson.

## Protect teacher wellbeing

Mindfulness should not be used to imply that teachers must simply cope better with unreasonable workload, insufficient staffing, or unsafe conditions.

Individual practice can support regulation, but organisational wellbeing also depends on leadership, workload, boundaries, support, and culture.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation dynamically by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the current page URL with the `ask` query parameter, and the optional `goal` query parameter:

```
GET https://knowledge.theholisticcare.com/knowledge/schools-and-educators/teacher-mindfulness-and-wellbeing.md?ask=<question>&goal=<endgoal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is optional and describes the broader end goal you are ultimately trying to accomplish on behalf of the user. GitBook uses it to tailor the answer towards what is most useful for that goal.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
