# Parent Mindfulness Support Checklist

A short checklist for introducing mindfulness to children without pressure.

Use this checklist when introducing mindfulness at home.

## Before practice

* choose an age-appropriate activity
* keep the first session short
* explain what will happen
* let the child keep eyes open if preferred
* avoid beginning during peak distress
* offer choice where possible

## During practice

* use a calm, ordinary voice
* allow movement
* expect distraction
* avoid correcting every response
* stop if the child becomes uncomfortable
* model curiosity rather than performance

## After practice

Ask simple questions such as:

* What did you notice?
* Was anything easy?
* Was anything uncomfortable?
* Would you like to do this one again?

Avoid asking:

* Did it make you calm?
* Why could you not sit still?
* Did you do it properly?

## Ongoing use

* repeat practices the child likes
* build one or two predictable routines
* keep mindfulness separate from punishment
* involve caregivers consistently
* seek professional support when problems are beyond the scope of a wellbeing practice

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation dynamically by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the current page URL with the `ask` query parameter, and the optional `goal` query parameter:

```
GET https://knowledge.theholisticcare.com/knowledge/practical-checklists/parent-mindfulness-support-checklist.md?ask=<question>&goal=<endgoal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is optional and describes the broader end goal you are ultimately trying to accomplish on behalf of the user. GitBook uses it to tailor the answer towards what is most useful for that goal.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
