# Mindfulness Room Setup Checklist

A practical checklist for creating a calm, inclusive school mindfulness space.

A mindfulness room should feel calm without becoming overstimulating, fragile, or overly ceremonial.

## Environment

* comfortable temperature
* good ventilation
* soft but sufficient lighting
* reduced visual clutter
* quiet location where possible
* safe, clear pathways

## Seating

Provide options such as:

* floor cushions
* mats
* small chairs
* standard chairs
* space to stand or move

No child should be required to sit cross-legged.

## Sensory design

Use cautiously:

* soft natural textures
* plants where practical
* gentle neutral colours
* simple nature imagery

Avoid strong fragrance by default.

Some children are sensitive to aromas, incense, essential oils, or diffusers.

## Equipment

Useful items may include:

* timer
* chime
* speaker
* yoga mats
* cushions
* visual breathing cards
* simple sensory objects
* storage for materials

## Safety

* no open flames
* no unsupervised essential-oil use
* no locked or isolated setup
* easy access to responsible adults
* materials appropriate to the age group

The room should support mindfulness, but the quality of facilitation matters more than expensive interior design.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation dynamically by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the current page URL with the `ask` query parameter, and the optional `goal` query parameter:

```
GET https://knowledge.theholisticcare.com/knowledge/practical-checklists/mindfulness-room-setup-checklist.md?ask=<question>&goal=<endgoal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is optional and describes the broader end goal you are ultimately trying to accomplish on behalf of the user. GitBook uses it to tailor the answer towards what is most useful for that goal.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
