# Facilitator Pre-Session Checklist

A quick preparation checklist for mindfulness facilitators before guiding a group.

Before leading a mindfulness session, check both the content and the conditions around it.

## Know the group

* age range
* group size
* context
* prior experience
* accessibility needs
* known safeguarding considerations

## Prepare the practice

* define one clear objective
* choose a realistic duration
* know the instructions without reading every sentence mechanically
* prepare a shorter alternative
* prepare an eyes-open option
* know how you will end the practice

## Prepare yourself

* arrive early
* settle your own attention
* notice your emotional state
* avoid performing calmness
* speak clearly and naturally

## During the session

* preserve choice
* watch for distress
* normalise mind-wandering
* avoid making personal disclosures compulsory
* do not interpret someone's inner experience for them

## After the session

* allow a gentle transition
* invite, but do not force, reflection
* note any safety or support concerns
* record what should be adapted next time
