# Game Safety & Adaptation

When to modify, pause, or stop a mindfulness game and how to keep activities inclusive.

A mindfulness game should support learning, not force someone to remain in an uncomfortable experience.

## Stop or modify when

* breathing causes dizziness or discomfort
* a child becomes increasingly agitated
* an exercise triggers distressing memories
* sensory input is overwhelming
* the learner repeatedly asks to stop
* the activity is escalating rather than settling the situation

## Adapt the format

You can change:

* eyes closed to eyes open
* stillness to movement
* internal focus to external sensory grounding
* individual work to supported co-regulation
* longer practice to a 30-second version

## Crisis situations

A digital game is not an emergency intervention.

If a child, teen, or adult is at risk of harm, in severe distress, or experiencing a crisis, prioritise direct human support and appropriate professional or emergency care.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation dynamically by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the current page URL with the `ask` query parameter, and the optional `goal` query parameter:

```
GET https://knowledge.theholisticcare.com/knowledge/mindfulness-games-and-interactive-practice/game-safety-and-adaptation.md?ask=<question>&goal=<endgoal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is optional and describes the broader end goal you are ultimately trying to accomplish on behalf of the user. GitBook uses it to tailor the answer towards what is most useful for that goal.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
