# Emotion, Gratitude & Self-Kindness Games

Interactive practices that support emotional vocabulary, appreciation, and compassionate inner language.

Some mindfulness games focus less on concentration and more on how a learner relates to emotional experience.

## Emotion naming

Helping a child identify “sad,” “angry,” “worried,” “excited,” or “confused” can create more choice than simply reacting.

An emotion can be noticed without becoming the child's entire identity.

## Gratitude

THC's **Gratitude Jar** concept makes appreciation concrete by collecting specific moments or experiences that mattered.

A physical version can be used at home or in class:

1. write or draw one thing you appreciated
2. place it in a jar
3. read selected notes together at the end of the week

## Self-kindness

A self-compassion practice may ask:

* What is difficult right now?
* Can I speak to myself without adding unnecessary attack?
* What is one supportive and realistic next action?

These skills should not be used to invalidate anger, grief, fear, or legitimate problems.

Gratitude and self-kindness are additions to emotional honesty, not replacements for it.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation dynamically by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the current page URL with the `ask` query parameter, and the optional `goal` query parameter:

```
GET https://knowledge.theholisticcare.com/knowledge/mindfulness-games-and-interactive-practice/emotion-gratitude-and-self-kindness-games.md?ask=<question>&goal=<endgoal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is optional and describes the broader end goal you are ultimately trying to accomplish on behalf of the user. GitBook uses it to tailor the answer towards what is most useful for that goal.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
