# Bedtime Mindfulness for Children

A predictable 10–15 minute wind-down routine using breath, body awareness, imagery, and gratitude.

THC's current bedtime guide recommends a **short, repeated sequence** rather than relying on one special trick.

For many children, predictability itself is calming.

## A simple wind-down structure

Choose two or three elements and use them in the same order most nights:

1. slow breathing
2. short body scan
3. calming visualisation
4. gratitude or reflection

A total of around **10–15 minutes** is often enough.

## Give the routine time

Do not judge the practice after 1 or 2 nights.

A repeated bedtime sequence may need a few weeks before it feels familiar.

## Keep the aim modest

The purpose is to help the child transition toward rest.

It is not to force sleep on command.

Persistent sleep difficulties may need broader assessment and support.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation dynamically by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the current page URL with the `ask` query parameter, and the optional `goal` query parameter:

```
GET https://knowledge.theholisticcare.com/knowledge/guides-and-insights/bedtime-mindfulness-for-children.md?ask=<question>&goal=<endgoal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is optional and describes the broader end goal you are ultimately trying to accomplish on behalf of the user. GitBook uses it to tailor the answer towards what is most useful for that goal.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
