# Kundalini & Subtle-Body Terms

Traditional terminology around Kundalini, chakras, nadis, and subtle-body models, presented with clear boundaries.

Some yoga traditions describe experience through a **subtle-body model** involving concepts such as chakras, nadis, prana, and Kundalini.

These are traditional contemplative frameworks.

They should not be confused with structures that have been established by modern anatomy, neurology, or physiology.

## Kundalini

In several yogic and tantric traditions, Kundalini refers to a latent spiritual energy symbolically described as resting at the base of the spine.

## Chakra

A traditional “centre” within subtle-body systems.

Different texts and traditions describe the number, location, symbolism, and role of chakras differently.

## Prana

A traditional Sanskrit term often translated as vital energy or life force.

## Sushumna

A central subtle channel described in yogic models.

## Ida and Pingala

Two major nadis described in traditional yogic physiology.

THC may explain these concepts historically or experientially while distinguishing traditional models from scientific claims.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation dynamically by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the current page URL with the `ask` query parameter, and the optional `goal` query parameter:

```
GET https://knowledge.theholisticcare.com/knowledge/glossary-and-key-concepts/kundalini-and-subtle-body-terms.md?ask=<question>&goal=<endgoal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is optional and describes the broader end goal you are ultimately trying to accomplish on behalf of the user. GitBook uses it to tailor the answer towards what is most useful for that goal.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
