# Sleep & Bedtime

Simple bedtime mindfulness ideas for children using breathing, body awareness, imagery, and predictable evening routines.

Bedtime mindfulness should be soothing rather than effortful. Useful options include body scans, gentle breathing, calming imagery, gratitude, and slow attention to sounds.

Keep the practice predictable and low-pressure. The aim is to support settling, not to make sleep another task the child must succeed at.

## A simple bedtime sequence

A short routine can include:

1. one or two minutes of slow breathing
2. a brief body scan
3. calming imagery or a familiar guided practice
4. one thing the child appreciated about the day

Keep the sequence predictable and low-stimulation. The aim is to support the transition toward rest, not to force sleep.

Persistent sleep problems may need broader assessment and support beyond mindfulness.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation dynamically by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the current page URL with the `ask` query parameter, and the optional `goal` query parameter:

```
GET https://knowledge.theholisticcare.com/knowledge/children-and-parents/sleep-and-bedtime.md?ask=<question>&goal=<endgoal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is optional and describes the broader end goal you are ultimately trying to accomplish on behalf of the user. GitBook uses it to tailor the answer towards what is most useful for that goal.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
