# Program Overview

A concise overview of the Calm the Storm learning pathway, including emotional awareness, grounding, breathing, and guided practice.

**Calm the Storm** is a mindfulness program for children, pre-teens, and young teens. It is designed to make mindfulness understandable through guided practices and accessible explanations rather than presenting it as an abstract concept.

The program can be used with adult support, especially for younger learners.

## How the program is structured

The learning pathway moves from understanding experience toward practising useful responses.

A typical progression includes:

1. noticing what strong emotion feels like
2. learning how stress appears in the body
3. using breath and grounding safely
4. observing thoughts without automatically following them
5. practising guided relaxation and mindfulness
6. applying the skills in everyday situations

Young people do not need to feel calm in every session. The goal is to build familiarity with the skills over time.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation dynamically by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the current page URL with the `ask` query parameter, and the optional `goal` query parameter:

```
GET https://knowledge.theholisticcare.com/knowledge/calm-the-storm/program-overview.md?ask=<question>&goal=<endgoal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is optional and describes the broader end goal you are ultimately trying to accomplish on behalf of the user. GitBook uses it to tailor the answer towards what is most useful for that goal.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
