# Nonduality for Beginners

A grounded way to approach nonduality without jargon, belief, or spiritual bypassing.

The word **nonduality** can sound abstract.

A simple way to begin is to notice that experience is usually divided conceptually into:

**me** and **everything else**.

Nondual inquiry asks whether this division is completely fixed in direct experience.

## Begin with what is obvious

Right now there may be:

* seeing
* hearing
* sensation
* thought
* emotion

Before interpreting them, all are simply appearing as present experience.

The inquiry is not about convincing yourself that “everything is one.” That can become another belief.

Instead, investigate what is actually present before the mind labels and divides it.

## Stay grounded

A healthy nondual practice should not be used to say:

* “Nothing matters.”
* “Pain is unreal.”
* “Boundaries are unnecessary.”
* “There is no person, so responsibility does not apply.”

Those conclusions can become forms of avoidance.

Deeper awareness should increase sensitivity, responsibility, clarity, and compassion, not reduce them.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation dynamically by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the current page URL with the `ask` query parameter, and the optional `goal` query parameter:

```
GET https://knowledge.theholisticcare.com/knowledge/awareness-and-self-inquiry/nonduality-for-beginners.md?ask=<question>&goal=<endgoal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is optional and describes the broader end goal you are ultimately trying to accomplish on behalf of the user. GitBook uses it to tailor the answer towards what is most useful for that goal.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
