# Mindful Working

Practical ways to bring awareness, focus, and healthier transitions into the working day.

Mindfulness at work is not about staying calm through unreasonable pressure. It is about noticing how attention, body tension, communication, and decision-making change under pressure.

## Five practical moments

**Before opening email:** take one breath and decide what deserves attention first.

**Before a meeting:** notice posture, breath, and the intention you want to bring into the conversation.

**Between tasks:** pause for 20–30 seconds rather than carrying the previous task directly into the next one.

**During conflict:** notice the urge to react before speaking.

**At the end of work:** create a short transition ritual so the workday does not continue indefinitely in the mind.

## Single-tasking where possible

Constant switching can make the mind feel busy even when little meaningful work is completed.

For one chosen period:

* silence unnecessary notifications
* choose one defined task
* notice when attention leaves
* return without self-criticism

Mindful working is not a productivity trick alone. It also involves boundaries, realistic workload, recovery, and respectful communication.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation dynamically by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the current page URL with the `ask` query parameter, and the optional `goal` query parameter:

```
GET https://knowledge.theholisticcare.com/knowledge/adults-and-everyday-wellbeing/mindful-working.md?ask=<question>&goal=<endgoal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is optional and describes the broader end goal you are ultimately trying to accomplish on behalf of the user. GitBook uses it to tailor the answer towards what is most useful for that goal.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
